St. Nicholas Church is a cultural monument registered in the list of immovable cultural monuments of the Czech Republic under registry number 19124/4-3633. It represents an important urban church in the Bohemian context. The structure spans numerous architectural styles. The basic part consists of a Late Roman urban parish sanctuary, of which the western portal, the twin towers on the eastern side and some secondary elements have been preserved to this day. The Roman tower of the belfry has a square plan and its interior is made of bulky quarry-faced blocks. The masonry contains numerous Baroque and Classicist fillings which clearly differ from the stone filling of the Roman masonry. Considering the historical value of the materials and their age, the work will mainly consist of conservation measures on all types of surfaces in the interior of the belfry. The restoration work fully respects the preserved condition and preserves proofs of all past interventions during the individual structural alterations and conversions. The work, performed by GEMA ART GROUP a.s., will be completed in 2015.
