Construction work, restoration and conservation of heritage objects are the main sphere of operations of GEMA ART GROUP a. s.
Thanks to years of experience, the high qualifications of its employees and establishing long-term cooperation with highly trained professionals in related fields, the company has become one of the foremost suppliers of restoration work in the Czech Republic. Since the beginning of the 21st century, GEMA ART GROUP a.s. has also been active in a global context. It has been engaged in work primarily in France, Austria, Ireland and the United States of America. In the past few years, GEMA ART GROUP a.s. has also been participating in restoration of heritage objects in the war-torn areas of Iraq. The project is being implemented in the context of government assistance through participation of the Czech Republic in post-war renovation and reconstruction of Iraq. This work is connected with the rescue of the ancient city of Ctesiphon, monuments in Baghdad, mediaeval citadels and a minaret in Erbil.
The quality of the performed work is reflected in the obtained international awards. In 2002, the company received first prize in the Europa Nostra Awards for the best procedures in the area of heritage care for the project of renovation of the Wallenstein Palace. A year earlier, it was awarded the Medal of Honour for the exemplary restoration of the interior of the Kynžvart castle. In June of 2012, GEMA ART GROUP a. s. was honoured to receive Special Mention by the Europa Nostra Jury for the restoration of the “Spiritual Development of Mankind” murals in the premises of the Philosophical Hall of the Premonstratensian Monastery at Strahov. The prestigious award is granted ever year by the Europa Nostra international Federation for Cultural Heritage together with the European Union.
The most extensive implemented projects include: restoration of the Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul in Brno, rescue of the mural in the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary Basilica on the Holy Hill in Olomouc, renovation of the southern tower of St. Vitus Cathedral in Prague Castle, reconstruction of the facade and interior of the building of Czech Radio in Prague, complete construction work performed in the premises of the National Memorial on Vítkov Hill, reconstruction of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, restoration of sgraffiti paintings on the exterior of the Nelahozeves Castle, rescue of the gothic portal of the building of the monastery in Tišnov, renovation of the Old New Synagogue and a great many more. Since 2003, GEMA ART GROUP a.s. has participated in complete reconstruction of the Gothic Cathedral of St. Barbara in Kutná Hora. Work is proceeding in several stages and ranks among unique construction projects.
