The sculptural decorations form part of the massive fencing of the First Courtyard of Prague Castle and, at the same time, part of the main entrance to the Prague Castle premises. The courtyard enclosure consists of a decorative grille filling the space between eight pillars (pylons) of sandstone blocks, with statues on each of the blocks. The two mighty pylons in the centre carry the sculpture of Wrestling Giants, the one next to them on the left supports the Imperial Eagle with putti and the pylon on the right carries a lion with a crown and putti. The outer four pillars hold vases with putti. The sculptural decorations were made at the beginning of the 20th century by Čeněk Vosmík and Antonín Procházka as a replica of the original Baroque sculptures by Ignác František Platzer.
The restoration involves conservation of all the sculptural decorations on the enclosure. It will be underway until the end of August 2015.
