This building originates from the end of the 16th century. The tower is a structure of seven irregular sides topped by a small cupola and had been used as a local water reservoir. Restoration work on the Turkish Tower in the town of Nymburk under the management of the company GEMA ART GROUP a. s. took place from July to October 2010 and involved work on the stone lantern, the copper weather vane in the shape of a comet and the pantile roof covering of the tower.
During restoration the stone surface was cleaned using a steam jet and then consolidated by a silicon acid based preparation. In the areas where the surface of the stone was disturbed, artificial stone was used as a filler. Finally, the stone was treated with a hydrophobic agent. The renovation of the copper weather vane was carried out using the preserved original fragments as a guide; during the work the surface of the comet was covered with 24-carat gold leaf. All work was completed by 31st October 2010.
