GEMA performed for the National Heritage Institute renovation of existing two staircases in the building of the State Castle Krakovec.
Originally a medieval stronghold, rebuilt to the Castle, has remain without the original roofs in torso state. The internal spaces of the basement of the West wing contain extremely valuable fragments of the cross-vaults and some details from the original construction of the Castle, that deserve maximum protection.
The aim of the rescue work was to reduce humidity in the non-roofed rooms in the basement of the Castle West wing, by the drainage of the rain water outside from the object. Another focus of the work was a restoration of the West wing Krakovec Castle polygonal staircase and the restoration of all stone elements.
The work consist in the disassembly of the liner brick stairway from the shell, the restoration of the stone elements and replacement of damaged parts by copies, it consist also in repair damaged masonry and related works, according to the National Heritage Institute Project Documentation and the Restoration Plan.
